Rafal Wlazlo, discovered his love for fishing at just five years old, exploring local waters with friends and whatever tackle he could get his hands on. Over time, that childhood hobby grew into a lifelong passion—along with the size of the fish, the ever-expanding collection of gear, and the variety of techniques he mastered. After two decades of successful tournament fishing and carp angling in Poland, Rafal moved to the United States, where his enthusiasm for the sport only intensified. Today, he approaches carp angling with the same drive, precision, and competitive spirit that have defined his career from the very beginning.
In the years since arriving in the U.S., Rafal has established himself as one of the sport’s most recognized advocates. As a former Connecticut state record holder for the largest carp ever caught—an impressive 45 lb 8 oz—he helped propel carp fishing into the national spotlight, generating widespread media coverage and capturing the attention of anglers across the country. His expertise and enthusiasm have made him a regular guest on fishing radio shows, where he discusses everything from advanced tactics to the future of carp angling. Rafal’s skill, dedication, and relentless passion have also earned him a place on the U.S. Angling Carp Squad, representing Team USA on the global stage at the Carp Fishing World Championships.
Rafal’s biggest contribution came with the creation of Carp Angler—not just a store, but a mission. Seeing how hard it was for American anglers to find carp-specific tackle, he set out to change that. Combining decades of fishing experience with an entrepreneurial edge, he built Carp Angler into the premier U.S. destination for all things carp—and the first American carp tackle brand.
